16th - St Joe Snow Riders "Pig Out in the Mountains" Ride - Annual event held the 3rd Sunday in January. Registration is 8am-8:30am at the Rock Pit in Clarkia. For more information, contact St. Maries Saw & Cycle, 208-245-4544.


February

19th - St. Joe Snow Riders "Morey Hedlund Memorial" Ride - Registration at the Clarkia Bar (J&E Stop) from 8:30am-10am.  $5 per hand - last hand must be in by 5pm.  Ride is approximately 60 miles of groomed trail.  Idaho State registration required, no groomer stickers necessary. 19th- St. Joe Valley Gun Show - St. Maries Eagles Lodge. 9am-4pm.  Swap, trade or buy guns and accessories. Come early for the bargains.  For more information, call Steve 245-3067 or Mel 686-1006.

26th - The Princess and The Pea - Shows at 3pm and 7pm at the Heyburn gym.  The Missoula Children's Theatre and over 50 local students will present an original musical adaptation of The Princess and The Pea.

27th - St. Joe Snow Riders "Breast Cancer Fun Run" - Annual event to start at the Calder Store and end at the Avery Trading Post.  Registration from 8-10am at the Calder Store, cost $5.00.  60-70 miles of groomed trails will feature five stopping points, with prizes and food provided along the way.  For more information, contact St Maries Saw & Cycle, 208-245-4544.

Idaho Saddle Club Assoc (ISCA) Spring Round-Up - see calendar of events on website, www.webpages.uidaho.edu/~afalen/


8th & 9th- St. Maries Junior Miss - Held at the Heyburn Gym at 7pm.  St. Maries High School Juniors compete for scholarships, prizes and the local title. The St. Maries winner goes on to compete for the state title. Contact Kristy Wear, 582-0644, or Shelly McGregor, 582-0892.

9th - Benewah County Humane Society fundraiser - Two performances by the legendary Sons of the Pioneers at the Greyhound Park in Post Falls, Id.  Performances at 1pm and 7:30pm. Admission:  Reserved seating, $40 - General Seating, $25 - Wing Seats, $15.  Watch for announcement of ticket sales.


29th - Chamber of Commerce Spring Fling Banquet & Auction - Annual Banquet & Auction to support the St Maries Chamber of Commerce.  Elks Lodge, St. Maries; for more information, call the Chamber at 245-3563.

11th- Free Fishing Day - Idaho's Free Fishing Day is an annual event held the second Saturday in June. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) invites novice anglers of all ages (residents and nonresidents alike) to celebrate the day by fishing any public waters in Idaho without a license.

12th - St Joe River Marathon - First annual marathon, half marathon and 5K race in St Maries.  Race will begin at 8am at the Cormana Building and follow the railroad grade up the St Joe River.  For more information, email info@stjoerivermarathon.com

July

10th - Old Timers Annual Picnic - for more information, contact Dottie Hodgson, cell #691-9823. Sponsored by the Benewah Valley Association, this annual event is always held the Sunday after the 4th of July.

16th & 17th -  Annual St. Maries Art Festival - smART by the River - St.Maries. The annual s.m.ART by the River Festival of the Arts at Cherry Bend Boat Park has grown each year, making it a popular annual event. Artists from around the Northwest offer paintings, sculptures, woodcrafts, baskets, photographs and a variety of other mediums. Music and entertainment is provided. Admission to the festival is free.

23rd - PetFest - Annual event sponsored by Benewah County Humane Society, Hope's Haven, 53 Robinson Ln, 11am-4pm.  Open house including yard sale, barbeque, ice cream, pet parade, games and other animal related activities.  Call 208-245-7387 for more information or visit www.benewahhumanesociety.org

6th -7th- Boat Club Poker Run - St. Maries. Boat Poker run starts on the St. Joe River in St. Maries traveling to the designated stops on Lake Coeur d' Alene then Harrison to turn in your hands. Prizes awarded. Annual event sponsored by the St Joe River Boat Club.

Labor Day Weekend - Paul Bunyan Days - St. Maries. Three days of Logger competition, food booths, carnival rides and games. Other activities include a Car Club breakfast and evening dance, street dance, parade, swim pool events, Idaho's largest "topless" beer bar (no roof), and a great fireworks show Sunday night. 


October

3rd - Christmas in St. Maries - St. Maries. Games for the children, pictures with Santa, stroll on Main St, hay rides,    
5 pm lighted Christmas parade on Main Street.

3rd - Holiday Craft Fair- St Maries. Annual event held first weekend in December at the Eagles Lodge, 9am-4pm. Contact Lynn Linnemeyer, 245-2195, or Loretta Graham, 245-3895.

11th - Christmas Gala for Benewah Community Hospital, includes gourmet refreshments and chance to win a fully decorated Christmas tree as well as beautiful gift baskets.
